Loyal
Always.
“Most Loving Dog. Worst PR Team.”
Once called the “Nanny Dog” for their patience with children, the Pit Bull is America's most misunderstood breed. Decorated war hero, loyal family dog, therapy animal — and the most likely dog in any room to try to sit on your lap regardless of what their size suggests about the viability of that plan.

Breed Story
“Once called America's Nanny Dog, decorated in two World Wars, and still the most loyal companion in any room — the Pit Bull has never stopped earning the trust it deserves.”
The Origin
The American Pit Bull Terrier descends from 19th century British Bull and Terrier crosses brought to America by immigrants. In the United States, they became farm dogs, hunting dogs, and household companions — valued for their tenacity, loyalty, and gentle temperament with people.
In the early 1900s, Pit Bulls were America's mascot breed — used in WWI recruiting posters and trusted as family companions. Sergeant Stubby, a Pit Bull mix, became the most decorated dog in American military history after serving in WWI.
The Personality
Pit Bulls are among the most people-oriented dogs in existence. They live to be near their family, are endlessly affectionate, and maintain a consistent belief that they are exactly the right size to be a lap dog regardless of what the scale or the physics suggest.
They are stubborn, energetic, and completely incapable of half-measures in any direction — when they love you, they love you completely. When they play, they play with everything they have. When they steal your couch spot, they are non-negotiable about it.
